UP Assembly bypolls: Apna Dal (S) wins Suar seat, SP has slim lead in Chhanbey

In one of the two Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats where bypolls were held Wednesday, BJP ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) won the Suar seat in Rampur and the Samajwadi Party was leading by a narrow margin in the other constituency of Mirzapurs Chhanbey Saturday as the votes were being counted...

In Suar, figures till noon indicated that Apna Dals Shafeeq Ahmed Ansari was leading with 49.2 per cent of the votes while SPs Anuradha Chauhan lagged behind with 46.26 per cent of the votes..

Ansari led by a margin of 2,164 votes at noon...

In Chhanbey, Samajwadi Partys Kirti Kol was leading with 45.08 per cent of the votes, while Apna Dals Rinki Kol got 43.93 per cent of the votes till noon on Saturday..

In the 2022 elections, Abdullah won the seat by 61,103 votes, defeating Apna Dals erstwhile nawab Haidar Ali Khan alias Hamza Mian..

In the Chhanbey (SC) assembly seat, SP's Kirti Kol is trailing behind Apna Dal (Sonelal)'s Rinki Kol by more than 220 votes, it showed. Bypolls were held for the Suar assembly seat in Rampur district and the Chhanbey assembly seat in Mirzapur district on May 10. Apna Dal (Sonelal) chief and Union Minister Anupriya Patel is the MP from Mirzapur.
