Kerala reports first case of COVID-19 sub-strain JN.1
16, Dec, 23Kerala has discovered a case of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1, a descendant of BA.2.86. Over 90% of COVID-19 cases in India are mild and being treated at home. A JN.1 traveler from India was previously discovered in Singapore, but no other cases have been detected in India. Surveillance by the India SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) is being conducted in Kerala, where JN.1 cases have been reported.
