44% Canadians belive there is too much immigration to the country: Survey

Amid rising anxiety over economic issues, the strength of Canadians believing that immigration has a negative impact on the country has gone up significantly, a survey conducted by the Environics Institute for Survey Research and Century Initiative said...

The survey, that was released on Monday, highlighted that 44 percent of Canadians believed that there is too much immigration to Canada," which is 17 per cent higher than 2022 and "the largest one-year change ever recorded on this question"...

"More than four in ten Canadians now strongly (23%) or somewhat (21%) agreeing with the statement, there is too much immigration to Canada, up 17 percentage points from one year ago and the largest one-year change ever recorded on this question," the survey reported highlighted...

The survey, that was conducted on 2,002 Canadians between September 4 and 17, also highlighted that 38 per cent of Canadians also believed that immigration is also responsible for the rising housing crisis in the country...

"A strong majority of Canadians continue to strongly (36%) or somewhat (38%) agree that immigration has a positive impact on the economy of Canada, but this proportion has declined by 11 points over the past year and is now at its lowest level since 1998," the report said...
