Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad's daughters likely to contest Lok Sabha elections

Bihar, with its 40 Lok Sabha seats, plays a crucial role in Indian politics, often influencing national outcomes. Recent shifts include Nitish Kumar's JDU forming an alliance with the saffron party, preceding a rally in Patna involving Lalu Prasad Yadav and CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. Elections will be held in seven phases from 19 April to 1 June, with results on 4 June. Nearly 970 million votes will be cast to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha

Drawing from the timeline of the previous general elections, where the dates were disclosed on March 10, 2019, and polling took place between April 11 and May 19 across seven phases, it is expected that the upcoming elections will follow a similar schedule in April and May, encompassing several phases. Additionally, it's noteworthy that the tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha is set to conclude on June 16, 2024.

The Election Commission will unveil the schedule for General Elections and state assemblies tomorrow at 3 pm, March 16, through live streams on its social media platforms. With nearly 97 crore eligible voters, reflecting a 6% increase since 2019, efforts are underway to explore the feasibility of simultaneous elections nationwide.
