PATNA: Hours after Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee dealt a blow to Congress by declaring to go it alone in the Lok Sabha polls in Bengal, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, too, attacked the fellow INDIA bloc member by questioning the erstwhile UPA governments at the Centre for not responding to his repeated requests to confer Bharat Ratna to socialist leader..

Nitish also attacked dynastic politics while praising PM Narendra Modi for his government's decision to confer the country's highest civilian award to the pioneer of quota politics...

Addressing a rally organised by JD(U) here on Karpoori's centenary birth anniversary,. said: "Right since coming to power (in Bihar) in 2005, I kept on requesting the governments at the Centre for this (Bharat Ratna) till 2023..

On dynastic politics, Nitish said: "These days, many people are more focussed about promoting their own family in politics, but Karpoori ji never did that in his life.".

Interestingly, Nitish's alliance partner RJD organised a separate function here to celebrate Karpoori's birth centenary which was addressed by its chief Lalu Prasad and his son and deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav...
