Delhi experienced the highest rainfall in a single day in July since 1982, with 153 mm recorded in a 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Sunday. Several regions in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, and Gujarat have also witnessed substantial precipitation. Chandigarh and Ambala also reported record rainfall of 322.2 mm and 224.1 mm respectively. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has warned that the water level in the Yamuna river in Delhi is rising and expected to surpass the danger mark of 205.33 meters by Tuesday. In response to the situation, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has canceled the Sunday leave for all government officials and instructed them to be on the field. In the past 24 hours, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed the loss of five lives in rain-related incidents: three in Shimla, one in Chamba, and one in Kullu. Two more people lost their lives due to lightning in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh, while in separate rain related incidents in Sawai Madhopur, two men drowned.
