Can ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank keep bulls busy? Sandip Sabharwal explains

Key Points

Sandip Sabharwal, asksandipsabharwal.com, says it is a mixed bag for HDFC Bank and not a big thing to be excited about except for the technical factor of the FII flows coming into the merged entity because of the leeway that it has created and that as we have seen has created a buzz in many stocks including Kotak Bank...

Sabharwal further says, as far as ICICI Bank results are concerned, everything went well; NIMs were good, net interest margin was good, fee income pickup was good, the asset quality was extraordinarily good..

My guess is that the stock will continue to do well and now the question is what valuations we give..

But the CRR, SLR requirements at a time when NIMs will come under pressure due to whatever commentary we heard from ICICI Bank, reflects that first the loans get repriced and the deposits get repriced and to that extent there will be a hit on margin and on top of that, PSL requirements will come in...

Its valuations are not as expensive as most of the recent IPOs but it is a pure domestic pharma company and to that extent, at a valuation of around 32-33 times, it is not really cheap..

3 pharma stocks to buy on dips; 3 banks that may outperform: Sanjiv Bhasin

“ HDFC Bank is a very good long-term and a slightly medium-term play. I do not rule out Bank Nifty going back to test 46,000 in this month itself and I would be very bullish on select banks like AU Bank, IDFC and RBL Bank which are three banks where we are taking exposure and we think can outperform.”

Dipan Mehta on why Page Industries is falling & what could be the multibaggers in next 7-8 years

26, May, 23

Elixir Equities Director, Dipan Mehta, argues that new age companies such as Zomato, Policy Bazaar, Nykaa, and Paytm are stocks of the decade of the 2030s and could be huge multibaggers over the next 5-10 years. However, these companies are still in their investment phase, which reflects in their P&L, although they are making strong efforts to get into EBITDA positive. Regarding concerns about Page's decline, Mehta suggests that a demand slump due to higher inflation and uncertainty around weather patterns may have impacted Page industries.
