According to sources, the police is investigating how 50 kg of explosives were packed under the crucial state highway, which was constructed under heavy security cover..

Sources said when the construction was beginning, about 110 explosive tunnels, including three foxhole tunnels, were cleared indicating that the Naxals had spread them to prevent the administration from laying down the black top road..

A district administration official told ET that the state highway is demined regularly as part of the security drill..

Sources say that the IED blast looks like a retaliation to the gradual setting up of Central Reserved Police Force camps over the last three months in highly-infested Naxal areas..
