Rupee falls 4 paise to close at 83.33 against US dollar

Mumbai, Mar 27 (PTI) The rupee declined by 4 paise to close at 83.33 against the US dollar on Wednesday, tracking a strong American currency against major rivals overseas and weak Asian peers...

However, foreign fund inflows, a surge in domestic markets and a decline in crude oil prices cushioned the downside, forex traders said...

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.33 and touched an intraday low of 83.45 against the greenback..

USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 83.10 to Rs 83.60, Choudhary said.. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.90 per cent to USD 85.47 per barrel...

On the macroeconomic front, Indias current account deficit narrowed to USD 10.5 billion or 1.2 per cent of GDP in the October-December quarter as against USD 11.4 billion or 1.3 per cent in the preceding three months ending September, the Reserve Bank said on Tuesday..
