He added that the world-building of the film, Napoleon Dynamite (2004) and It Follows (2014) were a reference.. Taylor revealed to NYT that he first wanted to do video game design, but after he made a music video inspired by Gnarls Barkleys song Crazy, he knew he wanted to make films...
