Now, based on a series of tweets, it seems that scammers are pretending to be Delhi police officials to lure you to share an OTP (one-time password) to steal your money..

According to film critic Sucharita Tyagi (@Su4ita on Twitter), she received an automated call, which redirected her to one Rahul Singh, a "sub-inspector" at Kirti Nagar police station in New Delhi..

Sucharita claims that she has received a fishy call from the beginning, though it is important to note the sophisticated method scammers have developed to dupe smartphone users in India...

Her final tweet highlights that the automated call plus the English-speaking caller sounded "very convincing." While Tyagi realised the nature of the scam call at the beginning, she adds, "It would be so easy to fall for this for a senior citizen or someone who isn't prepared to be scammed every time the phone rings in 2023.".

The tweet adds, "The lad asked his (father's) name then the follow up question was, what was his mobile number, that's when he grew suspicious and asked what police station was he calling from which led to him disconnecting the call."..
