Capex on National Highways increased from Rs 51,000 cr in FY14 to Rs 2,40,000 cr in FY23, Parliament told

Among the projects include 4-laning/2-laning with paved shoulder of Tinsukia-Makum bypass with a project cost of Rs. 459 crore, the 2-laning with paved shoulder of Bogapani to Golai Gaon with Digboi bypass at a project cost of Rs. 357 crore, the 2-laning with paved shoulder of Golai Gaon to Ledo with Margherita-Ledo bypass at a project cost of Rs. 643 crore, and 4-laning of Kandulijan Gaon – Simen Chapori road at a projected cost of Rs. 609 crore.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved funds totaling Rs 699.19 crore for the upgrade of a section of National Highway 58 in Palanpur, Gujarat. This allocation will be utilized for enhancing the Khokhra Gujarat Border - Vijayanagar - Antarsuba - Mathasur road section of NH-58.

Nitin Gadkari has announced that the government has approved Rs 1,170.16 crore for 29 road projects in Ladakh. The funds will cover various state highways and key roads in the Union Territory. The enhancement in road connectivity is expected to stimulate economic activities, particularly in agriculture and tourism, contributing to the overall infrastructural development of Ladakh.

Gadkari recalled when he was Shipping minister, he had prepared a water taxi scheme in Mumbai to ease traffic. A ropeway, a cable car, or a sky bus can be run on the lake (Bhopal's Upper Lake). We will surely help if you (Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav) send a proposal, he said and added that the tenders for all 27 rope-way works will be issued soon.

Gadkari said that there were 2,517 km of national highways in Uttarakhand in 2014 which has now risen to 3,608 km. Meanwhile, the chief minister said the projects whose foundation stone was laid at Tanakpur on Tuesday were long awaited and thanked Gadkari for his pro-active role in making it possible.

It comes under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Among the inaugurated projects were a 79km four-lane road between Baharagora and Singhara on NH-49, valued at Rs 1,203 crore, and a 78km six-lane road from Chandikhol to Bhadrak on NH-16, costing Rs 2,035 crore.

The passing of three industrial corridors, Visakhapatnam - Chennai, Chennai - Bengaluru and Hyderabad - Bengaluru, through the state has been crucial for this decision.
