Tripura bypoll looming, TIPRA Motha chief makes Oppn unity pitch; claims some in party looking to join BJP

TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma has called for Opposition unity in Tripura, saying that a one-on-one fight against the BJP should be ensured in a coming Assembly bypoll in Sepahijala district..

In a video message on Tuesday, Debbarma also said that some of his party leaders were looking to join the BJP, adding that politics was a more dirty game than he had assumed..

The comments came a day after the BJPs state executive meeting in Tripura...

About the Dhanpur Assembly bypoll, Pradyot, who is the scion of the erstwhile Tripura royal family, said, We have realised that where TIPRA Motha doesnt have a chance of winning should not give candidates..

The TIPRA chief also expressed anguish at the delay in the visit of the Central interlocutor in Tripura despite repeated assurances from Delhi and said he wouldnt meet the interlocutor anymore even if he visits Tripura..
