Amid the ongoing tension over China's renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday suggested that India should respond with a tit-for-tat move by releasing the Indian names of 60 places in the Tibet region under Chinas control...

Sarma made the statement at a press meet in Guwahati, stating, "My request to the government of India is to release 60 geographical names to the Tibetan area administered by China."..

He further added, "It should be tit for tat, I don't want to comment more, it is a policy matter of the government of India but if they have named 30, we should name 60."..

Earlier, India rejected China's renaming of some places in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that assigning "invented" names does not alter the fact that the state "is, has been, and will always be" an integral part of India...

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its strong objection to China's persistent efforts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, saying that such actions do not change the reality of the state being an integral and inalienable part of India...
