Farmers' Protest Live: Farmer leaders, who rejected the government's proposal of procuring pulses, maize, and cotton at MSP by government agencies for five years, on Monday announced they would march towards Delhi on Wednesday (today). Protesting farmers have been staying put at Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjab's border with Haryana after their 'Delhi Chalo' march to press the Centre for various demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops, was stopped by security forces which led to clashes last week. Meanwhile, the government has estimated that nearly 14,000 people have gathered along the Punjab-Haryana border with 1,200 tractor-trolleys, 300 cars, 10 mini-buses as well as small vehicles and conveyed its strong objections to the Punjab government for it. Farmers' Protest Day 3 Live Updates: In continuation with their protests for the third day, the Bharatiya Kisan Union-Ugrahan (BKU-Ugrahan) is likely to block the railway tracks in Punjab on today, to show solidarity with the farmers marching towards Delhi. A team of three Union ministers will also hold a meeting again with the farmer leaders over their various demands on Thursday evening. On Wednesday, the government invited the farmer leaders for holding third round of talks in a week after two such meetings organised on February 8 and 12 remained inconclusive. The offer for talks came when protesting farmers were staying put at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Punjab and Haryana to march towards Delhi to press the Centre to accept their demands, including a law on minimum support price for crops and loan waivers.
