Amazon's cloud unit to invest $13 billion in India by 2030

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon.com Inc, said on Thursday it plans to invest $12.7 billion in India by 2030 to build its cloud infrastructure, Reuters reported.

Amazon Chief Executive Andy Jassy told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the company will invest an additional $15 billion in India.

AWS India will offer cutting-edge learning content through DGT’s Bharat Skills platform, which serves as a central repository of approximately 15,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 33 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs)

Of the total Investments by Mubadala till date, Real Estate and Infrastructure Investments portfolio stands at $1.6 billion. This includes a $1.2 billion investment in Jio Platforms and investments in Tata Power Renewables and Cube Highways' infrastructure investment trust.

Amazon plans to invest an additional $15bn in India, bringing its total investment in various businesses in the country to $26bn by 2030. CEO Andy Jassy and Indian PM Narendra Modi discussed the promotion of Indian startups, job creation, facilitating exports and digital transformation.

India remains a “bright spot” amid a period of unprecedented global uncertainty, where businesses are increasingly turning conservative, according to CEO Selipsky.

As part of the collaboration, HCLTech intends to use Amazon CodeWhisperer with over 50,000 HCLTech engineers, cloud practitioners and developers to build secure applications and leverage AI responsibly, internally and for clients, the company said in a statement.
