In a statement on Monday, Nasa said it expected most of the Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager spacecraft to burn up as it enters the atmosphere...

The spacecraft was tasked with observing solar flares and coronal mass ejections from the Sun from its position in low-Earth orbit...

With the speculation rife, it is largely believed that the bright flash may have been caused by a meteor, which might have burned up above Kyiv as it entered Earth's thick atmosphere..
